A Covenantal God

The promises of God will be the focus of our worship services during Lent this year. On Sundays, we’ll hear about promises made in the Old Testament. On each of the five Sundays, one of God’s covenants will be explained to us.
The Rainbow Covenant
The Sign of the Covenant
The Ten Commandments
The Serpent on the Staff
The Covenant of the Heart

Then on Wednesday evenings, the gospel story will be told from the viewpoint of one of the characters in the story. The characters include Nicodemus, Peter, Satan, the bystander, Philip, and Andrew.

Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on February 22.
A prayer service will be held at noon that day at First Presbyterian in Cooperstown. A Wednesday noon service will continue through March.
Services of Holy Communion will be held in four locations on Ash Wednesday: 5:30 at Trinity in Binford; 7:00 at Faith in Hannaford, Grace in Grace City, and Lutheran Church of McVille.

Regular Lenten services will be held in three churches from February 29 through March 28.
