Spotlight on the Council

McVille Church council met on October 19th.  These are the highlights from the meeting:
• The benevolence to ELCA and LSS will be paid
• A ‘thank you’ will be sent to Jeremy Lilleoien for snow removal in 2011
• The Pastor and/or secretary were given authority to allocate funds to people in need for gasoline or food
• Christmas schedule was discussed and a Christmas Eve service will be held at 4:00pm depending on how the pastors can be scheduled.  There will not be services on Sunday, Christmas Day
• Money from the Sunday school fund will be transferred to the Sunday school checkbook
• The Cookie Walk will be held in conjunction with McVille’s Winterfest on November 27th
• There were a few items discussed for the good of the building
o Weather stripping on the doors
o Dehumidifier
o Care of the windows
o Roof project
• McVille Lutheran will host a lunch as a fundraising event in November
• There are 2 high school students planning to attend the National Gathering next summer
• Carrington Conference report
o Bishop announced that there were 14 pastors ordained this year in our synod
o Next year’s meeting will be October 14, 2012
• Pastor Kara will contact people who may be interested in becoming members of our congregation and will set a date for that event
